Standing Rules of Membership

1. General.
Article I, Section 1 of the Association's By Laws state:
Effective September 1, 2006, The Board of Directors shall be the sole judge of an applicant’s qualification for membership. The Board of Directors of the Association shall adopt Standing Rules for Membership, and shall have the authority to establish qualifications, privileges and dues for all classes of membership.

2. Purpose.
2.1. The purpose for establishing the IGCEMA Standing Rules for Membership is to ensure the fair and equitable interpretation and enforcement of IGCEMA membership rules.

3. Definitions.
3.1. Golf Course: A tract of land containing at least 9 holes of golf, with all playing ground, through the green and the putting surface, planted in grass.
3.2. Sports Turf Field: A tract of land, planted in grass, that’s principle use is as a playing or practice field for a recognized field sport activity.
3.3. Facility: A complex containing at least one golf course or sports turf field.
3.4. Minimum IGCEMA Recognized Golf Course: The minimum IGCEMA recognized golf course must contain 3 holes with all playing ground, through the green and the putting surface, planted in grass and configured such that it can be replayed to form a 9 hole course.

4. Job Titles and Designations.
4.1. It is the intent of the IGCEMA to allow its members to advance in the field of golf course equipment management and maintain the association privileges they have earned while an equipment manager and equipment technician.
4.2. Certified Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician: To qualify for Certified Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician membership, an individual must meet all criteria in the Class "A” Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician classification and hold a certificate approved by the association. Certification must also be periodically maintained by continuing involvement in IGCEMA approved activities. Certified Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician Members shall have all the privileges of the Association, subject to the provisions of Article VI, Section 1 of the IGCEMA Bylaws.
4.3. Class "A” – Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician: To qualify for Class "A” Membership, an applicant shall have at the time of application for membership; at least three (3) years experience as a Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician or two (2) years experience as a Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician and a graduation certificate from an IGCEMA approved trade school with a minimum of a one year curriculum, be employed in such capacity and comply with all additional qualifications adopted by the membership. Class "A” Members shall have all the privileges of the Association, subject to the provisions of Article VI, Section 1 Of the IGCEMA Bylaws.
4.4. Class "B” – Golf Course Equipment Manager/Turf Equipment Technician: To qualify for Class "B” Membership, an applicant shall be employed for less than three (3) years as a Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician, or less than two (2) years as a Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician and hold a graduation certificate from an IGCEMA approved trade school with a minimum of a one year curriculum, or be employed as a Turf Equipment Technician at a turf equipment service/repair business, and comply with all additional qualifications adopted by the membership. Class "B” Members shall have all the privileges of the Association, except those of voting and holding office.
4.5. Class "C” - Assistant Golf Course Equipment Manager/Turf Equipment Technician: To qualify for Class "C” Membership, an applicant shall be, at the time of application for membership, an assistant to a Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Equipment Technician, and shall be presently employed in such capacity. Class C Members shall have all the privileges of the Association, except those of voting and holding office.
4.6. Class "D” - Affiliate: To qualify for Affiliate Membership, an applicant must be an individual, business firm, educational or governmental body interested in golf course management and/or in the growing or production of fine turf grass, either individually or through employment by, or other affiliation with, a company, proprietorship, school or association, and who does not qualify for membership in another class. Affiliate Members shall have such privileges of the Association as the Board of Directors may specify by Standing Rules, except those of voting and holding office.

5. Titles that qualify as being employed in such capacities.
5.1. All titles as long as the Member’s responsibilities comply with the Job Descriptions for each Class listed in Section 4 of this Code and in Section 1 of the IGCEMA Bylaws.

6. Membership Dues.
6.1. As of 9/1/2008 the membership dues for each member classification are as follows:
6.1.1. Certified Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician - $0
6.1.2. Class A Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician - $0.
6.1.3. Class B Golf Course equipment Manager/Turf Equipment Technician - $0
6.1.4 Class C Assistant Technician – $0
6.1.5 Class D Affiliate - $0

7. Application for Membership.
7.1. Application for Membership shall be submitted in a forum approved by the Board of Directors.

8. Annual Membership renewal.
8.1. Membership renewal shall be accomplished in a forum approved by the Board of Directors.
8.2. All applicants for renewal shall signify their current position and place of employment in the designated forum.

9. Membership Reclassification.
9.1. Request for Membership reclassification shall be accomplished by the Member resubmitting his or her application.
9.2. Golf Course Equipment Manager/Head Turf Equipment Technician Members who lose employment shall have a six-month grace period before membership reclassification is required.
9.3. No retroactive status will be given for a change in classification greater than 45 days from the date of the requested change.

10. Membership Reinstatement.
10.1. In order for a member to be reinstated to the association, they must make application within 6 months from their membership termination date. All applicants making application after 6 months shall require a new application for membership.

11. Issues not covered by this document or the IGCEMA Bylaws:
11.1. If a Membership issue arises that is not covered by the IGCEMA Rules for Membership or the IGCEMA Bylaws the issue will be decided by the Board of Directors.
