Default Introduction to "The Book"

Ladies and gentlemen, after much preparatory work we are ready to accept contributions to YOUR Book of Equipment Repair Techniques and Fabrication Projects.

As a reminder; any and all contributions are welcome - on any system or component - on any machine found in the turf industry. Again, please do not concern yourselves with spelling, grammar, punctuation or presentation, if your work needs a little “tidying up” then we will address that before it is entered in the book. We will always be glad to have pictures with the text; remember a picture speaks a thousand words, but if that is not possible then we may be able to insert our own, so do not let that stop you.

This is an opportunity for you to help your fellow techs; you will receive full credit on the page of the book where you can point out with no little pride that “I did that for the benefit of others”.

For each contribution there will be an award next to your name in the forums, as with other contributions.

As I pointed out in the exploratory letter which accompanied the poll in December of last year, a good many of you post on here, and on GolfTECHS.net, some very good information on a whole range of subjects. All we are asking is that you consider contributing to “The Book” in front of anything else. The idea is to have all the information in one place, easily accessed via an index and sub headings, all nice and organised. “The Book” can also become an important part of the Certification Program Study Guide with YOUR help.

So now it is YOUR turn: Get your thinking caps on and do something for your fellow techs; it is YOU who can make this book worthwhile, the go-to manual as it were.

Those of you who make contributions can send it to me calcallaby@btopenworld.com, I have helpers (all volunteers) who are keen to get to work, editing and expanding on what you write. I’m sure that between us we can produce a “Book” of very useful information that will be of assistance to all.

We need a name for this book, so you can also come up with the name, the honour of choosing the name must surely go to our past president Stephen Tucker, so let’s have plenty of suggestions.

My suggestion for the name of 'The Book' is:

"The Techs Book"

- A pun on the words 'Text Book' which makes oblique reference to the 'book' being... By Techs, for Techs and with an educational angle to it as well.

The "book" will be available on this site Blas but not too sure of the format at the moment, the one in the link looks very good though, thanks for posting it.
Just for general information I have received several contributions already and I think you will be impressed. It would be very nice to have more, a lot more so come on guys, get your thinking heads on. It's the middle of Winter for a lot of us so get in your computer chair in the warm room, shut out everything else and start thinking "what do I know, what technique do I use, what tool have I made or adapted, what have I discovered that would be of benefit to other techs".
Earlier this evening I had sent to me two stunning pieces from a well known supporter, poster and all round good guy named............... nearly slipped out then. All will be revealed when the technical details of the "book" are finalised, this sounds easier to set up than it is, so just be patient, we will try and have it up and running not to long after the GIS.
If you have read John Patterson’ remarks in reply to Carl Osterhaus' announcement ref. I vocalise then you will see that the technical guys have their hands pretty full at the moment, rest assured we will have it up and running as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience.
Regards to all.
