Toro Expands

TOMAH, Wisc. (June 28, 2007) – The Toro Company recently celebrated the completed expansion of the Tomah manufacturing facility located at 200 Sime Avenue in Tomah, Wisconsin. As part of the celebration, the Greater Tomah Area Chamber of Commerce and local businesses were invited to an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 21, 2007.

“Toro is proud to be a major part of the Tomah community,” said Jim Starkweather, director of operations for the Tomah facility. “The expansion signifies Toro’s commitment to the Tomah area that extends long into the future.” The project took approximately nine months to complete, finishing in late March of 2007. Brickl Brothers Builders from West Salem was the general contractor on the project.

The beautiful two-story 15,000 square foot expansion houses a centralized human resources department, health and safety office, 3,000 square foot training room, and Toro’s main reception area. The new facility will be used extensively for associate training and continuous improvement activities. The Toro Company, headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, built the Tomah facility in 1975. The facility now employs approximately 700 people and manufactures products for the commercial division, including Groundsmaster® mowers, Workman® utility vehicles and Reelmaster® mowers.

Tours of the Tomah facility are organized for customers, investors and other manufacturing businesses. “Customers truly appreciate being able to see commercial mowers built from beginning to end, observing the dedicated and conscientious work of employees on the production lines,” said Starkweather. “In fact, we recently hosted a group of 30 golf course turf professional customers who toured the facility and saw products being built from the ground up.”
