The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) announces it support of the International Golf Course Equipment Manager's Association (IGCEMA) certificate program.
GCSAA President Bob Randquist, CGCS noted the importance of professional development and teamwork that the program will foster.
"GCSAA supports the team approach to facility management and recognizes that equipment managers and technicians are key members of the team,” Randquist says."Some of the biggest advances in the game of golf have come in the quality of playing conditions, and equipment managers and technicians have played a crucial role in that evolution.
"We know that innovation is a continuous process. We applaud the IGCEMA for establishing its certificate program. Creating competencies and developing resources to address them is a process GCSAA has followed in its professional development program. We are pleased the IGCEMA has developed this resource and certainly encourage golf course superintendents and their facilities to support the participation of their equipment managers and technicians in this certificate program.”
GCSAA and IGCEMA also partner in presenting the Golf Industry Show. The event will be conducted Feb. 29 – March 1 in Las Vegas.
IGCEMA's chairman of the Certificate Program Stephen Tucker stated, "We really appreciate GCSAA supporting the association's certificate program. Having GCSAA's support immediately adds value and credibility to our program which has been gaining huge momentum over the last few months. This is a great time for the IGCEMA and our membership.”
The IGCEMA Certificate Program consists of six competencies which test equipment technician's knowledge in hydraulics, electrical systems, drivelines, internal combustion engines, sprayers and cutting units. The IGCEMA has developed study guides to educate technicians before the online testing is administered via proctors located around the world. Once all six competencies are completed the IGCEMA provides those technicians with a plaque and certificate to congratulate them for their achievement.
